In this Treehouse Techdegree review, we’re showing you Techdegree options, features, pricing and more. Is a Techdgree worth it? Read on to find out.
Treehouse Techdegree Review: A Coding Bootcamp Alternative?
According to Course Report, the average cost of a coding bootcamp is $13,584.
And with no guarantee of a job afterward, that’s a very risky investment.
But what if there was a coding bootcamp alternative? One that was much cheaper, yet mirrored almost the exact same education and services as a bootcamp?
Look no further.
Because in today’s Treehouse Techdegree review, we’re showing you one such alternative.
These Techdegrees cover front end, back end and full stack web development. And they cost about 90% less than a typical bootcamp.
TLDR: Treehouse Techdegree Review
[Is a Techdegree worth it?]
๐ฅ Techdegrees are ideal for developers with little to no programming experience.
๐ฅ๏ธ If you want to pursue an entry-level web development position, we think Treehouse Techdegrees are worth it.
There are 5 Treehouse Techdegrees.
What is Treehouse?
Treehouse is a video-based learning platform with beginner, intermediate and advanced courses.
But it’s mostly geared towards beginners.
From our experience, if you are an intermediate or advanced developer, your skills may exceed what Treehouse has to offer.
Thus, we recommend Treehouse Techdegrees for new programmers.
What’s a Techdegree?
A Techdegree is a bootcamp-style learning path.
Each path is composed of courses, instructions, workshops and projects.
Then there’s a final exam. These multiple-choice exams typically take about an hour to complete.
To further mirror a coding bootcamp, Techdegrees include extras like job search help, additional coursework and study guides. In addition, they offer live chat support and a dedicated community on Slack. (This community is only available to Techdegree students.)
Techdegrees take anywhere from 3 months to a year to complete.
It all depends on how quickly you learn and move through the units.
Treehouse charges $199 per month for Techdegrees.
But when you compare that to the cost of a bootcamp, you’re saving thousands or tens of thousands of dollars for a similar education. ๐ค
Also, you can try out the Techdegree for free for 7 days. Then you can decide if a Treehouse Techdegree is right for you.
Are Techdegrees accredited?
No, Treehouse Techdegrees are not accredited.
However, a Techdegree is an indicator to employers regarding your drive and work ethic. It also shows your dedication to completing a task.
